So now I'm excited to see what that Singer 27 can do! This machine is in great condition when found and it a great straight stitch machine for quilters and sewers. Another option is to speak to someone that specializes in antiques. Still, it's something that people keep asking about, so I thought I'd take a stab at it. Vintage sewing items are highly collectible, showcasing the history of fashion and the evolution of the art of creating garments. Still, the next time I came across one in the wild, I bought it because of Brian's post. I don't have one of these, but I've heard good things about them, and I'm actively looking for one. I do offer phone assistance for the first week after delivery should you have trouble operating any machine you purchase from me. This machine is clean and runs well. I am no longer going to have space to store 80 parts machines and shelves of new reproduction parts so I have shut down Old Sewing Machines store on Etsy and am listing everything on eBay just to get rid of it. This machine was remarkable for the condition in which it was found. Do the feed dogs under the needle move back and forth? The two in the bottom right corner of the photo are still wrapped in oil paper and apparently have never been used, many of the others also appear unused and none look like they would not be usable.

Singer was the most popular brand of sewing machine. I never did and now it's time to bid them farewell but I really don't know what they are. The finish has scratches and a portion of the front decals are worn. My graduate school research has led me to study how garments are made and thus, a new curiosity in old sewing machines. Most chain stitched hems unraveled quickly when broken, so most garment manufactures switched to lockstitch machines like the Union Special 63900 instead, and did not reorder chain stitched hemming machines.
